It's More Fun in the Philippines

One can always say that it's more fun in their country but in a place like the Philippines, where economic crisis and political dilemmas are arising, it takes too much patriotism to have that stated.

Despite many criticisms, Department of Tourism launched the country's campaign ad named "It's more fun in the Philippines" which aims to strengthen tourism in the country. Eyeing for more tourists this year, DOT created the said campaign that was implemented earlier this month having the slogan which perfectly describes what tourists and balikbayans can expect once they set their foot in Philippine soil.

Not only that, this campaign also promotes Filipino pride as it showcases the good attributes, rich culture and all the things that can be found ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINES.

The historical Philippine Archipelago consisting 7,100 islands and three large land masses namely: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, is rich with natural resources and has a good climate that made our country a perfect haven for every fruit-bearing crops. Not only our country was blessed with natural resources but also with people who have the crafts and attitude that makes Filipinos unique from the others. Pearl of the Orient, as what it is called, Philippines is compared to pearls which are rarely found, special and very expensive. What makes it rare? We'll give you five reasons.

5. Modern Maria Clara

The world has been modernized and liberated but the shadow of Maria Clara was still etched in the personality of every Filipina. While most countries are now liberated, Filipinos remain conservative; conservative in a way that they are still rooted by their traditions. Teenagers has been different nowadays, but this does not hinder men to find women who are timid, amusing, lovely and intelligent; true marks of a real "dalagang Filipina".  This was also the reason why many foreigners prefer Filipinas as their wives, not to mention the natural beauty that every Filipina has.

4. Rich Culture, Creativity and Naturally-talented

Who could ever forget how the Philippines was discovered by the Spaniards? But before they could have found us, Filipinos have had their traditions and arts. They have built houses in the forest, caves and above the tree, they have made different accessories from stones and they have survive that time without computers, machines and other modern technology that the western civilization has brought to us. Just a proof that Filipinos are creative and talented from then till now.

Philippines is also rich in culture as many tribes were found in the different provinces of the country. And we also have Malay, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese influences and traditions that has been transferred from generations to generations.

3. Close Family Ties/ Generosity and Politeness

Filipinos are known for being family-oriented, generous and polite. That is why family reunions and gatherings are seen everywhere even in small occasions. Whenever they see old people, they will certainly help them, like when crossing the streets or offering seats in a public vehicle. Saying "po and opo" and kissing the hands of their parents are also trademarks of Filipinos. It has also been a Filipino culture to help anyone who is need. One common example is the "bayanihan".

2. Food Trip and Sight-Seeing

Eating is more fun in the Philippines! From the grandest to the simplest homes, whenever there's a guest, Filipinos always serve food with the line, "Kain na!” What makes this "kainan" good is the popular adobo and sinigang of Mrs. Juan Dela Cruz, alongside ripe mangoes for panghimagas; one great meal that tourists will surely keep on coming back for more. Aside from tasty foods served at home, Philippine street foods are also deliciously good. Foreigners could never leave the country without tasting the infamous balut and other native delicacies only provinces in the Philippines offer such as sapin-sapin, bibingka, kuchinta and a lot more.

What could be more fun than eating in a relaxing ambience and beautiful scenery? Contrary to popular belief, Philippines offers more than what Palawan Underground River has to offer. You can enjoy your food trip while savoring the natural beauty and historical places found in the country.

1. Happiness

While Philippines is among the third world countries, survey shows that we are the third happiest country in the world. Filipinos were happy by nature that even in times of calamities, trouble and sufferings; they can manage with smile. Everywhere you go, from subdivisions to villages to slum areas, people are always smiling. Aside from that, Filipinos were very warm and friendly when it comes to guests. As a matter of fact, Filipinos were known for being hospitable. And that's what made Filipinos unique, because they have the ability to make things fun and memorable for their guests and visitors. That makes it undeniably more fun in the Philippines!

We just gave you five reasons to enjoy being a Filipino, but there's a whole lot more. What matters is that we all learn to accept what and who we are. It's more fun in the Philippines and it's more fun to be a Filipino.
