Bourne Legacy in Manila

A good start for the Philippines for the year of 2012, as one of the biggest Hollywood movie for the coming year, the Bourne Legacy had chosen several cities in Manila and other places in the country for its shooting location.

One by one, the stars of the said movie arrived in the Philippines to get ready for the start of the shooting. Multi-awarded Hollywood Actress and most known for her movies, The Mummy Franchise and Scream, Rachel Weisz, arrived at the NAIA Terminal 1 at around 6:30 p.m. on January 8. The production team had said to have arrived a few more days earlier.

The filming for the Bourne Legacy started at heart of Manila, Leveriza Street, Malate on the 11th of January. Residents of the place had said to have been at awe, when they saw large trucks arriving and almost getting all the space of the place. Meanwhile, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had made sure of the safety of the whole production by deploying 166 MMDA personnel to watch their security. Most of the scenes in this place were Rachel Weisz’s scenes.

In their shooting days at Leveriza, some issues were raised by some of the residents, like about the discomforts of not having to peek through their windows or go outside their houses at the filming goes on and some cut to livelihood and business works. Many are also prohibited to take pictures or videos while filming the scenes. This distress however, was nothing compared to what the production had for the Leveriza Street. The Baranggay Tanods had attested that this filming helps a lot in their baranggay. They said roofs of some houses have been repaired for the scene where there will be jumping from one roof to another.

“The house beside ours which is a sari-sari store was repaired and arranged to make it look like a pharmacy,” Teresa Jacela, a resident of Abella Court on Leveriza Street said.
